The Birthplace of American Music Festival is a musical festival created to pay homage to the root of American music, the Blues, and pay tribute to all the genres that grew from it. Its influence can be traced to different parts of the United States. Music is a monumental part of American culture because it has the power to unify people and cross borders. Another important fact that ties blues music to black communities is that it has visible roots in Africa. It was a way that the early slaves could express themselves and communicate when they were being forcibly relocated and when there were restrictions on what cultural activities they could pursue. In a time where their world was being turned upside down, music served as an escape and form of communication/expression for early black communities. The ability of music to act as a binding factor provides the culture with a strong sense of connectivity.

The beginnings of American Blues music as a separate genre in the United States started with the advent of slave spirituals from Sub-Saharan Africa, European Folk, and African popular music. It's growth, development and transformation created, Jazz, R&B, Rock & Roll, Country, Hip Hop and many more enjoyed all over the World hundreds of years later.

The BAM Fest will takes place in over 10 different Venues in the Downtown area with multiple performances for your enjoyment. Live bands will perform in Downtown Clarksdale in all the area juke joints, blues clubs, event centers and staging areas for this festivial. Some of the best Food in the Mississippi Delta will be on display during the BAM Fest.

Live performers will also grace the MLK stage area making the BAM Fest one of the 1st festivial hosted on this stage.
